ICHTHUS means in Greek: Fish, Jesus Christ, the Son of God, Saviour.
It is an acrostic. An acrostic is an "arrangement of words in which the first letter
of each line ordinarily combines with others to form a word or words or the alphabet."
The first Christians used the acrostic ICHTHUS as a secret identification sign
and a simple confession of their faith.

the letters in ICHTHUS are the first letters of Iesous (Jesus), CHristos (Christ),
THeou (God), Uios (Son), Soter (Savior). (In Greek: ΙΧΦΥΣ)

In the life and death of the Lord Jesus God’s love for man is made perfect:

For God so loved the world that he gave his only Son, so that everyone
who believes in him will not perish but have eternal life. (John 3:16 NLT)

Jesus said, "Father, forgive these people, because they don't know
what they are doing." And the soldiers gambled for his clothes by
throwing dice. The crowd watched, and the leaders laughed and scoffed.

The two hearts in the symbol overlap and this creates part of the ICHTHUS symbol.
These two hearts stand for the two most important commandments
that form the basis of the faithlife of a Christian.

Jesus replied, "You must love the Lord your God with all your heart, all your soul,
and all your mind.' This is the first and greatest commandment.
A second is equally important: `Love your neighbor as yourself.'
All the other commandments and all the demands of the prophets are based
on these two commandments." (Mathew 22:37-40 NLT)


Salvation that comes from trusting Christ--which is the message we
preach--is already within easy reach. In fact, the Scriptures say,
"The message is close at hand; it is on your lips and in your heart."
For if you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in
your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved.
For it is by believing in your heart that you are made right with God,
and it is by confessing with your mouth that you are saved.

Forgiveness by GRACE:
But God showed his great love for us by sending Christ to die for us
